Job Description

We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Youth Support Specialist to join our team on a casual basis. As a Residential Childcare Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing responsive, customized, and quality support to young people placed in their individual flats or shared houses.



Key Responsibilities:


  • Working in line with person-centered risk assessments, support plans, and liaising with support workers to provide a full handover
  • Observing any change in behavior, ensuring appropriate actions are documented, and reporting changes in support needs of any young person
  • Maintaining positive working relationships with young people, staff, and professionals by communicating effectively at all times, and actively seeking out ways to work with the team to improve the experience of young people in the service
  • Ensuring continuous support is provided to young people at the standards of day staff, with particular focus on the safety of vulnerable people
  • Carrying out any necessary health and safety actions, including cleaning tasks required, along with set policies and procedures
  • Liaising with external agencies such as police, Emergency Duty Team (EDT)
  • Supporting young people who need to attend the hospital or police station


Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have:




  • Experience of supporting young people who may be vulnerable
  • Flexibility in your availability, as the role will include weekend work
  • Hold Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma/Children and Young People's Workforce/NVQ Level in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or be willing to study towards this
  • Be willing to travel, so a full driving license and access to a vehicle is required
  • Excellent computer skills

Location and Salary

This position is based in St Albans, with a competitive salary of £20 per hour.
