Job Description

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation, is seeking a Strategic Procurement Manager to join their team on an initial 12-month contract. This role will be hybrid working with a minimum of 2 fixed days in the office.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage with key stakeholders to agree procurement priorities and deliver on the support and processes required to achieve these on time and within budget.
  • Manage supplier performance against appropriate Key Performance Indicators, continually seeking service improvements and in-life cost savings.
  • Provide mentoring and development support to more junior members of the respective Category Team.
  • Work closely with Operational Procurement to deliver a high-class procurement service, ensuring the content on the organisation's Oracle ERP system remains accurate.
  • Analyse expenditure records, seeking opportunities to reduce duplication and inappropriate sourcing.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual commodity plans that ensure the Strategic Procurement Strategy remains relevant and fully aligned with the organisation's Strategy 2030.
  • Represent the relevant Category and/or Senior Management Team on influential internal and external groups.
Essential Skills
  • Full Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (MCIPS) or a relevant degree.
  • Good communication skills and sensitivity.
  • Presentation skills to deliver project and other management reports and recommendations for improved practice.
  • Good analytical and computing skills, accuracy and attention to detail.
  • At least 3 and preferably 5 years' experience delivering a relevant procurement service.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience in public or regulated sector is preferred but not essential.
  • Direct experience of implementing new initiatives is an advantage.
  • Senior Stakeholder Management experience.
  • Experience of delivering strategic projects.
