Job Title: Asbestos Project Officer

We are seeking an experienced Asbestos Project Officer to join our team at Headland Archaeology (UK) Ltd. As a key member of our commercial archaeology team, you will be responsible for conducting archaeological investigations, evaluations, and excavations, as well as supervising plant and office-based research, analysis, and reporting.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and results-driven individual to join our team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality archaeological work. As an Asbestos Project Officer, you will work on a range of projects across the UK, including waterlogged medieval and Roman excavations, IA/RB agricultural and industrial landscapes on linear schemes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct archaeological investigations, evaluations, and excavations
  • Supervise plant and office-based research, analysis, and reporting
  • Work on a range of projects across the UK, including waterlogged medieval and Roman excavations, IA/RB agricultural and industrial landscapes on linear schemes
  • Collaborate with the fieldwork team to deliver high-quality archaeological work
  • Develop and maintain a portfolio of reports and other documentation
Requirements
  • At least three years' experience in British commercial archaeology or relevant European commercial experience
  • Accomplished field archaeologist with experience in running archaeological projects
  • Experience of the archaeological supervision of plant
  • Demonstrable portfolio of reports
  • Ability to work under pressure and use your own initiative
  • Ability to carry out prolonged manual work in an outdoor environment in all weather
  • Good organisational skills
  • Experience in managing small to medium-sized teams
  • Embrace inclusion and diversity as a leader
  • Willingness to develop your people skills and attend mental health awareness courses
  • Driving licence and willingness to drive company vehicles in the UK
  • Substantial knowledge of MS Office and English language
  • Willingness to work away from home
  • CIfA membership
  • Degree in Archaeology or related subject
  • SHEQ accreditations (Asbestos Awareness, Cat & Genny, 4Ô, Confined Spaces, Banksman, First Aid, SSSTS, CSCS card)
