Job Summary

We are seeking a qualified Dispenser to join our team at Primary Care Careers. As a Dispenser, you will play a vital role in our busy practice, working closely with our multi-disciplinary team to provide excellent patient care.

Main Duties

  • Process prescriptions and repeat prescriptions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to good practice principles.
  • Verify medicines and appliances dispensed, checking against prescriptions and consulting with doctors as necessary.
  • Collect prescription charges and ensure patient declarations are completed.
  • Process Hospital Letters and Dossett Boxes.
  • Manage stock ordering and control.
  • Answer dispensary phone enquiries and monitor patient exemption status.
  • Sort and dispose of unwanted/returned medication.

We are a semi-rural practice with 8200 patients, dispensing to 2000 of our patients. Our small, friendly team is dedicated to providing excellent service to our community. Benefits include the NHS pension.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Diploma Level 2/3 Dispensary or equivalent Pharmacy Services qualification.
  • 2 years+ dispensary and pharmacy experience.

Experience

  • Excellent clinical and medication knowledge.
  • Understanding and experience of working as a dispenser in a GP practice setting.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and career development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication skills.
