About the Role

The Trade Marketing Manager is a key member of our Commercial Own Brand team, responsible for driving performance across our retail, coffee shops, and pubs and bars. This role requires a strong understanding of market dynamics, consumer behavior, and supplier relationships.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Trade Marketing strategies that align with business objectives
  • Nurture and maintain strong relationships with key trade partners, working together to showcase our network, understand brand plans, and create shared objectives
  • Create Activation Plans, coordinate marketing POS materials, and allocate resources for supplier campaigns
  • Analyze sales data, market trends, and stay up-to-date on competitor activities
  • Work closely with each business channel team to implement the Annual Trade Marketing Plan
  • Collaborate with Purchasing to align on supplier negotiation
  • Work with Finance to ensure timely invoicing of all activity
  • Track and forecast annual TM income for Suppliers within remit
  • Contribute to annual TM budget development proposal
  • Support the organization of the annual Supplier Conference to share our trading strategy, build relationships, and grow TM investment from our suppliers
  • Support and stand-in for the Senior Trade Marketing Manager
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a similar Trade Marketing role, including strategy and budget development
  • Advanced supplier relationship building and development skills
  • Advanced negotiation skills
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of sales drivers
  • Ability to spot opportunities and turn them into profitable activities
  • Ability to project manage multiple workstreams and priorities to ensure delivery of the strategy
  • Ability to drive decision-making through fact-based analysis
  • Experience of drawing out business insights from analysis and presenting findings and recommendations persuasively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain strong working relationships both internally and externally
  • Good understanding of the operational reality in units, including environment, service, labor, waste, equipment, space, and layout
  • Team leading, coaching, and development experience

  • Buying/Commercial plus Marketing experience
  • Innovative and bold, able to find new ways of doing things, challenge the status quo, and take an entrepreneurial approach
