We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Director for Education, SEND and Inclusion to join our team at Leicestershire County Council. As a key member of our leadership team, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our children's services and driving system-change across the county.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of leading and managing complex education and SEND services, with a strong focus on improving outcomes for children and families. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to address the intrinsic challenges of improving the SEND system across Leicestershire, and for building strong and innovative partnerships with schools, academies and MAT chains.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development and implementation of strategies to improve education and SEND services across Leicestershire.
  2. Build and maintain strong relationships with schools, academies and MAT chains to drive system-change and improve outcomes for children and families.
  3. Work closely with elected Members to address concerns and issues raised by parents, carers and families.
  4. Develop and implement effective plans to address the intrinsic challenges of improving the SEND system across Leicestershire.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A strong track record of leading and managing complex education and SEND services.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders.
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing strategies to improve outcomes for children and families.
  • A deep understanding of the SEND system and the challenges facing local authorities.
