Yard Assistant Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and motivated Yard Assistant to join our equestrian team at Plumpton College. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of our equine facilities, including daily horse care, student supervision, and equipment maintenance.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Horse Care and Grooming: Perform daily horse care routines, including grooming, mucking out, and tack cleaning.
  • Student Supervision: Supervise and coach students to ensure safe and efficient horse husbandry practices.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Organize and maintain equipment and facilities, including harrowing arenas and managing horse health records.
  • Horse Schooling: Take a proactive role in horse schooling to ensure readiness for learners.
  • Event Planning: Assist in the planning and execution of public equine events.

You will work closely with our experienced team to ensure the highest welfare standards are maintained at all times. You will also have the opportunity to be involved in commercial equine events and public activities that promote our outstanding facilities.
