Job Title: Band 7 Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 7 Occupational Therapist to join our team at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Occupational Therapy Department, you will be responsible for providing a high-quality and evidence-based service to patients with cancer and their families.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement individualized therapeutic rehabilitation programs for patients with cancer, based on activity analysis and a client-centered approach.
  • Lead the development and implementation of treatment and educational groups for patients and their carers, such as Health & Well-being groups.
  • Take a lead role in areas of advanced clinical practice in oncology and palliative care, providing consultative resources for other Occupational Therapists across the UK.
  • Assess and prescribe complex wheelchair and specialist seating needs for patients with cancer.
Requirements:
  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy recognized by the UK College of Occupational Therapists.
  • State Registration with the Health & Care Professions Council for Occupational Therapy.
  • Significant postgraduate clinical experience in oncology, with a minimum of one year's experience.
  • Evidence of experience in clinical supervision and appraisal.
  • Post-grad study days/courses in oncology/palliative care.
Desirable:
  • Evidence of experience in leadership, project management, audit, outcomes measurement, and clinical governance.
  • Accredited splinting and hand therapy course.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Advanced knowledge of functional assessment and treatment techniques for oncology and palliative care patients.
  • Ability to carry out risk assessments concerning patients and staff safety, including Manual Handling.
  • Ability to assess risks associated with loneworking and take responsibility for reporting to colleagues.
  • Expertise in group dynamics, planning, facilitating, running, and evaluating therapeutic groups.
  • Advanced clinical reasoning and analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to deal with imparting bad news.
  • Ability to produce professional reports and records, including management reports and service development proposals.
