SEN Teaching Assistant Role

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and compassionate teaching assistant to join a primary school in Northfield on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will be assigned to work 1:1 with a child in Key Stage 1 who requires tailored support due to specific learning needs.

About the Role:

As a SEN teaching assistant, you will provide personalized support to the child in both academic and social settings, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher and SENCo to develop strategies for supporting the student's individual needs.
  • Assist the student with tasks that require additional help, including reading, writing, and numeracy activities.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to meet the child's unique requirements, utilizing knowledge of various learning styles.
  • Promote the student's independence and encourage their participation in class activities.
  • Monitor progress, record observations, and provide regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCo.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the child's Individual Education Plan (IEP) and Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP).
Requirements:
  • Level 2/3 childcare qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant experience in supporting children with special needs, particularly in a primary school setting.
  • A compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine passion for helping young learners overcome challenges.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs and effective support strategies.
  • The ability to adapt and be flexible in your approach to cater to the specific needs of the child.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • This role is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), requiring fluent English language proficiency.

£22,000 - £25,000 per annum, depending on experience.
