SEMH Learning Mentor

About the Job:
We have an exciting opportunity for a SEMH Learning Mentor to join our team at TeachMatch. As a SEMH Learning Mentor, you will work with students who require additional support in managing their emotions and behaviours.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEMH needs, both in and out of the classroom
- Implementing personalised learning plans and strategies to support student's emotional and academic development
- Helping students develop coping strategies for managing their emotions and behaviours
- Fostering a positive, nurturing classroom environment that supports student's social and emotional growth
- Building strong relationships with students to help them feel safe, valued, and confident in their learning
- Working closely with teachers and other staff to track student progress and provide ongoing support
- Promoting inclusivity and positive behaviour, while ensuring a calm, respectful environment for all students
- Supporting the overall well-being of students, acting as a mentor and role model where necessary
- Communicating effectively with parents and other professionals, ensuring a collaborative approach to support each student's needs
Requirements:
- Experience working with children, particularly those with SEMH needs (ideal but not essential)
- A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students with emotional and behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents
- The ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations
- A proactive and flexible attitude, with the ability to adapt to the needs of individual students
- A passion for supporting student's emotional and academic development
- A commitment to making a real difference in the lives of young learners
- Previous experience working in an education or care setting would be beneficial but not essential
