Key Responsibilities- **Lead and Manage**: Act as team leader in the supervision of nursing staff, exercising good leadership and control.
- **Unit Management**: Take charge of the unit, ensuring compliance with Infection Control standards and Trust policy.
- **Training and Development**: Train nurses in clinical and management skills, participate in the induction and in-service training of staff, and collaborate with the Education and Training Team.
- **Assessment and Evaluation**: Participate in the Continuous Assessment of Practice for pre/post-registration course members and the assessment of competencies.
- **Facilitation and Support**: Act as facilitator for trained members of staff undertaking professional development programs, and provide support and guidance to junior staff.
- **Budget Management**: Be aware of allocated budgets and out-going costs, and promote cost-effectiveness within the ward area/unit.
- **Resource Allocation**: Have a Care Group overview of resources required to deliver safe patient care, and re-deploy staff to ensure equity across the Care Group.
