Job responsibilities
This is an exciting time to join the team at Southampton's Children's Hospital. The hospital is a 115-bedded hospital that caters for both local and regional children from the Wessex Region, including the Channel Islands. Our hospital prides itself on providing a variety of specialist tertiary services.
JADW is a nurse-led ward operating from 07:15 AM to 8:15 PM, Monday through Saturday. The ward caters to both surgical and medical patients, including long-term patients returning for day case infusions or regularly repeated treatments. You will gain experience in various specialties such as gastroenterology, endocrinology, rheumatology, allergy, and anaphylaxis management.
- Provide professional nursing leadership at ward/unit level and work with the Matron to enhance nursing practice and strategy.
- Evaluate the relevance of changes in clinical practice and then support and facilitate implementation in the clinical area.

Qualifications, knowledge, and experience

- 1st Level Registered nurse on relevant part of the NMC Register
- Recognised mentorship qualification and experience as a Sign Off mentor
- Degree or working towards
- Completion of appropriate specialty Course
- Higher Education Institute approved course in supporting learners in practice.
- Extensive experience in specialty to include considerable experience at Band 6 level
- Evidence of clinical leadership ability
- Proven management experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Evidence of utilising evidence in practice
- Expert clinical skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and fulfil service requirements
- Ability to prioritise and deliver agreed objectives
