Procurement Expert Wanted

We are seeking a highly skilled Procurement Expert to join our team at Meridian Business Support. As a key member of our procurement team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring timely and cost-effective execution of customer orders, directly influencing the company's success with your efforts in cost-saving measures and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and lead supplier selection strategies and manage existing suppliers through audits and KPI metrics.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure sufficient cashflow, payment terms, stock holding, packaging, handling, and compliance.
  • Conduct supplier visits and audits to maintain high performance.
  • Perform quarterly supplier reviews, negotiating service and costs to meet company objectives.
  • Create and support Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with suppliers.
  • Manage daily system updates, vendor card management, and pricing breaks.
  • Resolve invoice queries and conduct benchmarking exercises for cost efficiency.
  • Plan inventory considering sales demand, stock safety levels, and cashflow.
  • Introduce new suppliers following controlled processes, including QC and ethical audits.
  • Draft supplier and service agreements, and maintain commodity strategies.
  • Execute cost-saving plans where necessary.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 4 years in a Buyer/Procurement role or 5 years in a supply chain role.
  • Understanding of Procurement code of conduct and global practices.
  • Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP systems like MS Dynamics Navision or SAP would be ideal but training can be given.
  • CIPS qualification is desirable or the ambition to work towards this would be great.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and analyse data/KPIs.
  • Comfortable working under pressure with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
