Senior Cyber Security Analyst - Incident Management

The Cyber Operations team at NHS England is seeking a highly skilled Senior Cyber Security Analyst to join their Incident Management team. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for managing serious and complex cyber security investigations, leading on process improvement work, and acting as a Cyber Security subject matter expert.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cyber security, excellent communication skills, and the ability to communicate complex concepts to a range of stakeholders. You will be working closely with the Cyber Security Operations Unit (CSOU) and other teams to develop and advance cyber security investigations.

Main Responsibilities
  • Manage serious and complex cyber security investigations
  • Lead on process improvement work within the Incident Management team
  • Act as a Cyber Security subject matter expert
  • Develop and maintain documentation, such as playbooks and user guides
  • Prepare detailed investigation reports
  • Support Incident Managers and Junior Incident Managers with their investigations
  • Act as a second-tier escalation point for analysts within the CSOU
  • Manage and resolve more complex enquiries
  • Manage Cyber Incident Response teams during a cyber security incident
  • Run and chair blended calls during a Cyber Security Incident
  • Ensure standards by reviewing security tickets created by analysts and Incident Managers
  • Deliver cyber security and Incident Management presentations to a diverse audience
  • Write articles and share information on current and emerging cyber security threats
  • Gather key performance indicators and deliver reports
  • Use tooling such as Sentinel, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, and Splunk during cyber security investigations
Requirements
  • Post-graduate degree or equivalent level of experience
  • Expert knowledge of information security management, including processes, tools, and techniques
  • Demonstrable knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with information security issues
  • Expert knowledge of Security Information and Event Management (SIEM)
  • Proven knowledge of tools, techniques, approaches, and processes of cybersecurity risk management
Working Arrangements

This is a permanent, full-time position. The successful candidate will be required to hold security clearance SC level as a minimum.

NHS England holds a Sponsor Licence, and the successful candidate may be eligible for sponsorship through the Skilled Worker route.

The salary for this position is £64,506 to £72,604 per year, inclusive of a RRP payment of 20%.
