Job Title: Chargehand Gardener

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Chargehand Gardener to join our Grounds Maintenance team at Derby City Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising ground staff and undertaking general and skilled horticultural work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and manage a team of ground staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality grounds maintenance services.
  • Undertake skilled horticultural work, including the use of professional grounds equipment and the maintenance of sports grounds and constructional work.
  • Manage and resolve daily issues, ensuring that the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety regulations and that the team is aware of and adheres to these regulations.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction, ensuring that the public and stakeholders are satisfied with the quality of service provided.

Requirements:

  • Full manual car driving licence.
  • Extensive professional grounds maintenance experience.
  • Experience of using a wide range of professional grounds equipment.
  • Experience in team leadership and management.
  • NVQ level 2 in horticulture or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety and Equality Act 2010.

Working Conditions:

The work may involve early morning starts at locations throughout the City of Derby. You will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to adapt to changing circumstances.
