Job Title

Educational Health and Care Plan (EHCP) Specialist required to support the implementation of the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Reform programme in line with the Children and Families Act 2014 and associated regulations.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced professional to lead assessments, gather relevant evidence, and triage families to appropriate services. The successful candidate will facilitate multi-agency planning meetings, draft outcomes-focused EHCPs, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assessment and Evidence Gathering: Lead assessments and gather relevant evidence to inform EHCPs.
  • Person-Centred Planning: Facilitate multi-agency planning meetings and draft outcomes-focused EHCPs.
  • Review and Monitoring: Regularly review the outcomes of EHCPs and provide support to schools with pupils who have SEND.
  • Dispute Resolution: Address disputes and support tribunal preparations if necessary.
  • Support and Guidance: Provide advice on personal budgets, educational placements, and the Equality Act's requirements for SEND pupils.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Essential:
    • Relevant qualifications or demonstrable experience in Special Educational Needs.
    • Evidence of continuing professional development.
    • Proven experience working with children, young people, and families with SEND.
    • Knowledge of the Children & Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
    • Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to manage caseloads, work independently, and meet deadlines.
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in ICT systems.
  • Desirable:
    • Teaching or social care qualifications.
    • Experience working with schools or educational settings regarding SEND.
    • Familiarity with databases such as Synergy, Eclipse, or Care First.
    • Knowledge of the National Curriculum, Preparation for Adulthood agenda, and local SEND provisions.
Estimated Salary

£40,000 - £60,000 per annum
