About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified planner to take up a key role within the Council's Planning and Regeneration service, driving forward Swansea's ambitious forward planning and placemaking agenda.

The role offers the chance to work on a diverse range of projects, all focused on shaping future development in Swansea and delivering positive outcomes for people and nature.

You will play a senior role in driving forward key projects for Swansea, experiencing a wide variety of strategic planning work, including:

  • Preparation of the replacement Local Development Plan (LDP) and associated planning guidance
  • Working with key stakeholders and partners to facilitate the delivery of schemes promoted by the LDP
  • Undertaking strategic planning research and assessments
  • Providing professional advice on planning applications and pre-application proposals
  • Monitoring planning outcomes

Candidates should have relevant experience and hold an appropriate professional qualification, and either be a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute or be seeking to gain experience to achieve this.

The Council operates a flexible working policy, and you will be given the necessary management and support to enable you to successfully undertake your role and develop professionally.
