Job Overview

This is a part-time position, requiring 18.75 hours of work per week, and is fixed-term until 31st August 2025 to cover maternity leave. The post will be based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea, but you will be required to support the paediatric dietetic service provision across the health board.

Main Duties of the Job

The post holder will work autonomously in providing a dietetic service to children and young people across Swansea Bay UHB, including enteral feeding, oral nutrition support, faltering growth, complex allergies, preterm term infants, and other clinical conditions impacting on the young person's nutritional status.

You will support the supervision and mentoring of junior members of staff, placement 1, 2, and 3 student dietitians, and support workers and assistant practitioners, delegating duties as necessary and providing the appropriate level of support at all times.

Person Specification

We are looking for a dietitian with the following qualifications and experience:

  • BSc Nutrition and Dietetics or equivalent
  • HCPC Registered
  • Post-registration training in relevant areas

Desirable criteria include:

  • Student Clinical Educators Course
  • Recognised management/leadership qualification
Knowledge and Experience

We are looking for a dietitian with a wide variety of clinical knowledge and experience of working as a specialist dietitian in nutrition and dietetics within a specialist area.

Experience of supervising/mentoring staff, audit, and quality improvement methodology is also essential.

Desirable criteria include experience of strategic planning processes and policy/service development.

Aptitude and Abilities

We are looking for a dietitian with highly developed interpersonal skills, including developed oral and written communication skills with people from a wide variety of backgrounds.

Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to set priorities and meet daily deadlines, are also essential.

Able to work on own initiative in a professional manner under pressure, as well as having effective teamwork skills.

We are looking for a dietitian who is able to reflect and critically appraise their own performance.
