Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join our team at NCP Network Ltd. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for designing and developing complex electro-mechanical systems.

Key Tasks
  1. Interpret product and sub-system requirements into functional design specifications.
  2. Generate electrical and software architectures at both a product and sub-system level.
  3. Produce high-level design concepts to meet specified requirements.
  4. Generate electrical component specifications.
  5. Generate software specifications.
  6. Oversee the design and development of software.
  7. Sign off technical content.
  8. Support the commissioning of products, from initial debug to functionality verification.
  9. Work on projects ranging from sub-system concepts to proven production machines.
  10. Be the Control Systems representative in projects.
  11. Be responsible for the day-to-day activities of several Engineers.
  12. Support continuous improvement by being involved in the generation and updating of departmental design processes.
  13. Interface with other areas of the Engineering function to ensure the efficient integration of the control system into the wider product.
  14. Manage project work and be able to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. A strong academic background.
  2. A degree in a relevant field (candidates without a degree will be considered if they can demonstrate extensive and relevant industry experience).
  3. Experience in electrical system design and development for complex electro-mechanical systems.
  4. Experience in using design tools such as AutoCAD and CREO.
  5. Experience in leading or mentoring Engineers.
  6. Knowledge of PLC programming using CODESYS.
  7. Knowledge of Functional Safety.
  8. An appreciation of Engineering standards e.g. BS EN ISO 13849 or BS EN 62061.
  9. Experience in software development using MS Visual Studio (C, C#, C++) advantageous.
  10. Experience in 3D CAD advantageous.
  11. Chartered Engineer, or working towards Chartered status with a UK Professional Engineering Institution.
