HVAC Lead Engineer

Project Start Recruitment is seeking a highly skilled Senior Refrigeration Engineer to join our client's team in the Midlands region. As a key member of the refrigeration team, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across multiple site locations.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in refrigeration and air conditioning, with a Level 3 qualification and experience working in a similar position in a retail or commercial environment. You will be required to work independently, with minimal supervision, and have excellent technical skills, including the ability to diagnose and repair complex refrigeration systems.
In addition to your technical expertise, you will also be responsible for leading a small team of refrigeration engineers, providing coaching, technical support, and coordination of first-line people activity. This will include supporting technician recruitment, managing probationary reviews, on-job coaching, and first-stage welfare support for the team.
The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. You will be required to work on-site, with occasional travel to other locations, and will be expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times.
In return, our client is offering a competitive salary of up to £51,700 per annum, including on-call every 1 in 4 weeks, travel time, company van, tools, and uniform, health care, pension scheme, and 33 days annual leave (including 8 bank holidays).
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver planned and reactive maintenance services across multiple site locations.
- Lead a small team of refrigeration engineers, providing coaching, technical support, and coordination of first-line people activity.
- Support technician recruitment, manage probationary reviews, and provide on-job coaching and first-stage welfare support for the team.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity at all times.
Requirements:
- Level 3 Refrigeration & Air Conditioning qualification.
- Experience working in a similar position in a retail or commercial environment.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
