Godinton House Preservation Trust invites applications for the position of Botanical Garden Director, responsible for the overall strategy and direction of our gardens.

About the Role

We seek a highly experienced and visionary garden director to lead our team and ensure the gardens continue to thrive. Key responsibilities include managing the garden team, developing and implementing long-term garden plans, and maintaining the highest standards of gardening excellence.

Main Responsibilities
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the gardens, including staff management, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for garden development, including fundraising, community engagement, and education initiatives.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including supporters, partners, and local communities.

A competitive salary of £42,000 per annum, plus pension, and good accommodation available on site are offered. In addition, we provide 25 days' holiday entitlement per year, plus bank holidays.

The ideal candidate will possess exceptional leadership skills, excellent plant knowledge, and experience in garden management, as well as a relevant horticultural qualification, such as a National Certificate in Horticulture or RHS.
