Child and Family Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Child and Family Support Specialist to join our team at Staffordshire County Council.
About the RoleThis is a Fixed Term contract for 12 months, and you will be based in Leek, in the Staffordshire Moorlands. As a Child and Family Support Specialist, you will play a critical role in supporting children in understanding their birth identity and supervising their time with birth parents.
Your primary responsibility will be to support families to spend quality time together when they can't live together and support children in getting to and from school where absolutely necessary and to and from their time with their families.
Main Responsibilities:- Encourage and help maintain positive relationships between children and parents.
- Support families to manage complex family needs and behaviours while maintaining professional relationships.
You will need to have a minimum NVQ 3 in working with children and families or equivalent experience of working with children and families.
Additionally, you should have experience of direct work with children, their families and carers in a statutory or voluntary agency which provides services to vulnerable children and their families.
A strong understanding of child development, the effect of stress and trauma on child development, and key pieces of policy, guidance and legislation which govern children's social care are essential.
You must also have access to a vehicle and a driving licence, and be flexible to work evenings and occasional weekends as needed.
We offer a competitive salary of £28,000 - £30,000 per annum, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including a guaranteed interview as long as your application meets the minimum criteria for the post.
