Job Title: Lead Teacher for Mathematics

About the Role:

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Teacher for Mathematics to join our team at Petherton Park School. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for leading and managing the maths curriculum, inspiring children to love maths, and promoting a positive attitude towards mathematics across the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead classroom activities, including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, particularly with your designated class.
  • Monitor and record progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes.
  • Work closely with pupils to keep them engaged, motivated, and inspired to reach their full potential.
  • Work one-to-one with pupils or in small group settings to help them achieve their learning goals.
  • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to direct them in effectively supporting the pupils.
  • Support team members with the delivery of maths across the school and have oversight of the subject as a whole.

Requirements:

  • Ability to teach maths to Level 2 (GCSE/Functional Skills).
  • Patience, compassion, and resilience – the pupils you teach will be neurodiverse, which can impact their learning behaviour and communication needs.
  • A driving licence – our pupils love to learn in a wide range of settings.
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.
