About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Holroyd Howe, a leading contract caterer providing fresh and innovative food services to independent schools and colleges. As a Sous Chef, you will play a key role in leading our culinary team and contributing to the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our students.

Key Responsibilities

• Food Preparation: Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and standards set by the head chef, ensuring food safety standards are adhered to at all times.
• Shift Management: Oversee the production of all dishes assigned to your shift and maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment.
• Quality Control: Maintain high-quality standards for all dishes, ensuring presentation and taste are considered at all times.
• Team Collaboration: Communicate positively and effectively with all team members and assist/support colleagues where necessary, including coaching junior chefs to support their development.
• Menu Development: Collaborate with the head chef to develop and taste new recipes, providing suggestions for improvement or innovation.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including your designated area, and ensure equipment is in good working order.

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Sous Chef or similar role.
• Knowledge of various cooking techniques and cuisines.
• Strong understanding of food safety and health & safety practices.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
