About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Theatre Practitioner - Scrub to join our team at County Durham & Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care within the perioperative environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in the monitoring of standards of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
  • Participate in direct care needs of patients, providing expert knowledge of all clinical specialties and acting as a role model.
  • Participate in audit and monitoring accurate documentation in accordance with Trust policy, NMC, and HPC guidelines.
  • Be competent in facilitating an emergency service covering all specialties provided within the department, during elective and non-elective periods.
  • Ensure the safe administration of drugs in accordance with Trust Policy, and NMC and HPC guidelines.
  • Ensure that all procedures and techniques are carried out in accordance with local competencies and agreed policies and standards.
  • Ensure rights, dignity, and confidentiality of the patient are protected at all times.
  • Act as patients' advocate in all matters relating to his/her care, treatment, and welfare.
  • Checking on departmental cleanliness and where necessary, assisting other members of the team in the preparation, clearing, and cleaning of the operating suite and equipment before, during, and after operating.

Person Specification
  • Existing experience as a scrub practitioner.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner with scrub experience.
  • Registered with NMC or HCPC.
