About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Radiographer to join our team at University Hospital Wishaw. As a Specialist Radiographer, you will be responsible for justifying, authorizing, and performing radiographic examinations, providing direct care and a high-quality diagnostic imaging service to patients referred from clinicians and other referrers in NHS Lanarkshire.

You will supervise Radiographers and SHCSW, ensuring continuity of service delivery and providing leadership to the team. The successful candidate will have comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice, as well as specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Justify, authorize, and perform radiographic examinations
  • Provide direct care and a high-quality diagnostic imaging service to patients
  • Supervise Radiographers and SHCSW, ensuring continuity of service delivery
  • Provide leadership to the team
  • Have comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice
  • Have specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice
Requirements
  • Registered Radiographer with valid HCPC Registration
  • Educated to/working towards/operating at Degree Level
  • Postgraduate expertise within speciality/area of practice that demonstrates the required breadth of knowledge required to lead safety, effectively, and efficiently
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards within the speciality/area of practice
  • Specialist knowledge and experience of relevant conditions, pathology, policies, and procedures associated with the speciality/area of practice
  • Leadership skills to enable the day-to-day management of service delivery
  • Excellent team-working/leadership skills and ability to motivate others and work using own initiative
  • Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Working knowledge of basic information technology
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • College of Radiographers IV injection certificate
  • CT, mammo, or angio experience
  • Relevant clinical experience at radiographer grade with proven competencies in applying theory to practice
  • Training on relevant equipment
  • Training on Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000
  • Ability to train student radiographers
  • Ability to participate in Out of Hours working
  • Car driver with a full, valid UK/EU/EEA licence
