About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Manager to join our team at Urenco. As a Waste Manager, you will be responsible for managing the waste function that serves the requirements of UCP, UNS, UUK, projects, operations, and external business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing timely, compliant, and practicable advice relating to the management and disposal of radioactive waste to UNS, UUK, UCP, and projects.
  • Developing sufficient planning and reporting processes to monitor and deliver planned work.
  • Ensuring that external waste management contracts are technically feasible and support UNS' strategy.
  • Accountable for all BAT decisions, concerning radioactive waste, made by the Waste Team and will ensure adequate approval for all waste related BAT assessments.
  • Providing waste technical services to external customers, in line with contractual and commercial arrangements.
  • Managing of budget.
Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of disposal and treatment routes for wastes in the UK and overseas.
  • In-depth knowledge of characterisation methods, techniques, and processes along with a thorough understanding of UK industry good practice and international standards.
  • Thorough understanding of legislation and frameworks that impact waste management in the UK.
  • Degree in a scientific or engineering-based subject.
  • Certificate of competence to act as a Radioactive Waste Adviser.
  • Transport of Class 7 by Road Level 2 or Level 3.
