About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advocate Volunteer to join our team at the Alzheimer's Society. As an Advocate Volunteer, you will play a vital role in empowering people living with dementia to have their voices heard and their rights upheld.

Through building strong relationships with the people you support and their carers, you will make a significant difference in their lives. You will work closely with the York Local Services Team to ensure that people living with dementia can express their views, concerns, and wishes, and that their choices are respected.

This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of people living with dementia in York. If you are passionate about empowering people and have excellent communication skills, we would love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Visit people living with dementia in the community to support with advocacy cases
  • Establish strong trusting relationships with the people you support and their carers
  • Work closely with the York Local Services Team to ensure that people living with dementia can express their views, concerns, and wishes
  • Support people living with dementia to make choices and have their rights upheld
