Mechanical Estimator

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Estimator to join our team at Galliford Try. As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for reviewing tender information, reading and interpreting drawings, undertaking site visits, and submitting quotes and estimates to clients in the water and nuclear sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive tender information from clients and review it thoroughly.
- Carry out take-offs of required materials and ensure accuracy.
- Undertake site visits to gather information and assess site conditions.
- Negotiate costs with suppliers and ensure approval from line managers.
- Submit take-offs to suppliers for pricing and calculate installation costs using bespoke norms.
- Ensure each tender is completed to the highest standard and meets client expectations.
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders and management.
- Stay up-to-date with relevant legislations, standards, regulations, guides, and good practices.
- Complete and record evidence of continuing professional development (CPD) as required by the relevant professional institution.
- Comply with relevant engineering procedures and standards.
- Undertake other tasks as instructed by the contract/project manager.
About You:
We are looking for a candidate with a background in Mechanical Engineering, preferably in the process industry, such as the water sector. You should be qualified and have suitable experience. You should also be able to think clearly, demonstrate rationality behind proposals, and negotiate effectively. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. You should also be able to demonstrate knowledge, understanding, and application of electrical principles.
