About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Administration Officer to join our team at Swindon Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management of all 3000 council garage tenancies and the letting of vacant garages.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the allocation of garage tenancies and ensure efficient letting of vacant garages.
  • Provide support for general queries related to garages, rent, and former tenant arrears.
  • Monitor and review accounts regularly, complete arrears progression, and take relevant action to recover any arrears.
  • Serve notices to end garage agreements for rent arrears where required.
  • Prepare basic performance reports for PI monitoring purposes.
  • Ensure customer account information is accurate and up-to-date by providing detailed case notes and records of action taken concerning arrears.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues and external agencies, including void turnaround and repairs.
  • Maintain the garage waiting list, add applications, and ensure checks are carried out.
  • Prepare and request write-offs for relevant garage accounts, ensuring policy adherence and alignment with best practice.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need previous experience in a front-line customer-facing role, preferably in a social housing environment or role relating to income recovery. You must have excellent communication and customer handling skills, be a good negotiator with the ability to handle conflict carefully to find a suitable resolution, and excellent IT skills. You must also have good attention to detail and an excellent work ethic.

You must be fluent in the English language, as a requirement of Part 7 of the Immigration Act, for the effective performance of a customer-facing role.
