About This Role


We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Administration Officer to join our team at Swindon Borough Council. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the management of all 3000 council garage tenancies, including the letting of vacant garages, and the efficient and effective collection of garage income.


Key Responsibilities



  • Manage the letting of vacant garages and the collection of garage income in a fair and efficient manner.
  • Provide support to colleagues and respond to general queries from members of the public regarding garages, rent, and former tenant arrears.
  • Monitor and review accounts regularly, complete arrears progression, and take relevant action to recover any arrears.
  • Serve notices to end garage agreements for rent arrears where required.
  • Prepare performance reports for monitoring purposes.
  • Ensure customer account information is accurate and up to date by providing detailed case notes and records of action taken concerning arrears.
  • Liaise with internal colleagues and external agencies to resolve any issues related to void turnaround and repairs.
  • Maintain the garage waiting list, adding applications and ensuring checks are carried out.
  • Request write-offs for relevant garage accounts, ensuring policy adherence and alignment with best practice.

About You


We are looking for someone who has previous experience in a front-line customer-facing role, preferably in a social housing environment or income recovery, with a strong customer focus and willingness to go the extra mile. You should have excellent communication skills, be a good negotiator, and have the ability to handle conflict carefully to find a suitable resolution.
