Principal Auditor

The Principal Auditor will play a key role in our team, providing internal audit services to our clients within the NHS Trust. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a high level of audit skills and the ability to work unsupervised across a range of clients and complex audits.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver audits/reviews in line with time targets and budgets, arranging the detailed implementation of individual audits from the planning stage through to report issue.
- Evaluate existing client practices and procedures to review whether they are effectively controlled to mitigate identified risks, and to determine if there are more efficient ways of working.
- Support the Group Audit Manager with delivering the commercial aspects of the audit process, the preparation of strategic and operational plans, and with appraisal and development of colleagues.
- Set up each audit on our computerised working paper system, issue terms of reference to client management, supervise staff during audit, ensure quality of work, review staff files and reports, and submit reports prior to issue to Group Audit Managers for approval.
- Work with client managers to gain acceptance of recommendations, which change the way in which they carry out their jobs.

Person Specification- Good standard of education to A level standard or equivalent.
- At least 3 years internal audit experience, preferably in public sector.
- Good knowledge of Internal Audit methods and techniques, inc Risk Based Audit.
- Good knowledge of the principles of finance and non financial NHS areas.
- Nolan principles.
- Microsoft products (word / excel etc).
