Job Title: Hospital Activities Coordinator

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Hospital Activities Coordinator to join our team at Sturdee Community Hospital in Leicester.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and encouraging patients to participate in meaningful activities, promoting their independence, choice, and dignity. This will involve creating a stimulating and varied program of leisure activities and social events, both within and outside the hospital, to enhance the patients' quality of life.

The ideal candidate will have 6 months of experience as an Activities Coordinator or 1 year of experience as a Senior Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant. They will also have some experience working in a hospital with patients with diagnosed mental health conditions, an awareness of the Mental Health Act, and experience of severe and complex challenging behavior.

The successful candidate will be a resilient individual with the ability to work alone and as part of a team of healthcare professionals. They will also have the ability to work on a shift/rota pattern and have the right to work in the UK.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and encourage patients to participate in meaningful activities
  • Create a stimulating and varied program of leisure activities and social events
  • Work with each new patient to understand their likes/dislikes, abilities, and needs
  • Plan, organize, and coordinate activities for active daily living
  • Work closely with the Occupational Therapy team to ensure effective planning and resource management
  • Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor activities accordingly
  • Observe care planning needs for patients and complete written daily records
  • Contribute to MDT discussions on patient well-being
  • Escort patients to and from activities
  • Participate in the creation and review of risk assessments for levels of activity
Requirements:
  • 6 months of experience as an Activities Coordinator or 1 year of experience as a Senior Support Worker/Healthcare Assistant
  • Experience working in a hospital with patients with diagnosed mental health conditions
  • Awareness of the Mental Health Act
  • Experience of severe and complex challenging behavior
  • Resilient nature and ability to work alone and as part of a team
  • Ability to work on a shift/rota pattern
  • Right to work in the UK
