About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Transmission Cable Engineer to join our team at SSE, a leading energy company in the UK. As a key member of our Project Engineering Team, you will play a crucial role in the development and delivery of our transmission network projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the full project life cycle, from project definition to project completion, ensuring the successful delivery of transmission network projects.
  • Provide cable engineering support across multiple projects, producing or reviewing outline cable system designs, and assessing technology options.
  • Develop technical scopes and specifications for new underground cable projects and modifications to existing assets.
  • Review and verify contractor/consultant detailed underground cable system designs, and witness factory and site acceptance testing.
  • Provide technical support to site teams to ensure quality of installations and cable commissioning activities.
Requirements
  • Demonstrable technical skills in transmission voltage level underground cable systems development, design, and specification.
  • An understanding of the legislation and implications of such for the management of the transmission network for both assets and projects.
  • Preferably hold or be working towards a degree or master's in an appropriate engineering discipline.
