Are you passionate about supporting young people with SEMH needs? Academics is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant (SEMH) to join a secondary SEMH school in Liverpool on a temporary, supply basis. In this role, you will work closely with individual students who require additional support due to SEMH challenges and behavioural difficulties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage positively with their learning.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, promoting self-regulation and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, feeding back to the relevant staff.

Requirements:

  • Experience of supporting students with SEMH needs.
  • Ability to work with students displaying challenging behaviour.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
