Accounts Assistant

Key Responsibilities- Process and reconcile invoices, receipts, payments, and other financial transactions.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of financial transactions in the accounting system.
- Collaborate with the purchasing and operations teams to reconcile purchase orders, delivery notes, and supplier invoices for fixed assets.
- Maintain a tracker for one-off bank payments with all relevant details.
- Assist in bank reconciliations and ensure accurate recording of all bank transactions.
- Maintain accurate and organised physical and electronic financial records, including Hire Purchase Agreements and credit card receipts.
- Maintain credit card expenses, checking balances and transactions, ensuring VAT receipts are supplied and submitted on time.
- Chase company stakeholders for relevant information relating to credit card expenses.
- Support the Accountants in ad-hoc financial tasks, answering the telephone and reporting tasks.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices would be advantageous.
- Working towards AAT or similar would be advantageous.
- Proficiency in using accounting software.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive and self-motivated attitude with a strong desire to learn and develop in the field of finance.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues from various departments.
- Knowledge of the construction or plant hire industry would be advantageous.
