We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Finance to join our team at Guild Care. As a key member of our Finance Management Team, you will be responsible for the management of the finance function, including the preparation of annual operating budgets.
Key Responsibilities- Manage all financial processes, analyzing information and implementing recommendations based on findings.
- Deputize for the Finance Director in their absence, with respect to all financial matters, including reporting to the Board of Trustees.
- Provide key financial information to the organization to enable strategic planning for the future of Guild Care.
- Support and guide business managers on matters relating to the management, planning, and development and monitoring of the charity's finances.
- Review and develop Guild Care's financial systems in line with the growing needs of the business.
- Lead and motivate the Finance team to ensure they function effectively and that all members are empowered to provide meaningful and timely support within their roles.
- Oversee the delivery of accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
- Take responsibility for the delivery and audit of year-end accounts and to be fully knowledgeable and compliant with all statutory and accounting regulations.
- Ensure that the charity has robust financial systems in place to safeguard its assets and ensure accuracy of reporting.
- Consistently review internal controls to ensure they meet ongoing operational requirements.
- Ensure the accuracy of all records and that these are maintained to meet legal and tax requirements to the highest standards operating with a 'best practice' approach.
- Support managers with financial advice and coaching to become better skilled at managing budgets and forecasting.
- Deal with customers on finance and billing matters.
- Debt chasing, including liaising with solicitors.
- Appropriate accountancy qualifications.
- At least 5 years post-qualification experience working in an accounting environment.
- Experience in preparing and reporting on budgets, management information, and statutory accounts.
- Strong technical accountancy skills and financial acumen.
- Good knowledge of company accounting, legal, and tax requirements.
- Experience in the not-for-profit sector, including preparation of charity accounts compliant with the charity SORP.
- CIPFA Certificate in Charity Finance & Accountancy.
- Good networking skills.
