About the Role

The Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine at King's College London is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technician to join our team in the Centre for Education. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a world-class team delivering practical education and enhancing the student experience.

The successful candidate will have extensive technical experience and knowledge of topographical human anatomy, with proficiency in dissection or similar fine motor skills. They will be responsible for preparing and caring for donor bodies, planning and preparing classes, projects, and courses, and maintaining equipment.

This is a full-time position (35 hours per week) with an indefinite contract. The ideal candidate will have a systematic approach to work, follow well-established protocols, and be proactive in process improvement. They will also have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and care for donor bodies in accordance with the law, including embalming, dissecting, and making funeral preparations.
  • Plan and prepare classes, projects, and courses, including liaising with internal and external users.
  • Maintain equipment and assist with demonstrating anatomy.
  • Support users of the rooms and assist in supervising and training junior staff.

Requirements

  • Extensive technical experience and knowledge of topographical human anatomy.
  • Proficiency in dissection or similar fine motor skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Systematic approach to work and ability to follow well-established protocols.
  • Proactive in process improvement.

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in using audio/visual and other technological equipment.
  • Experience or knowledge of basic surgical instrumentation and infection control.
  • Experience of supervising and advising junior team members.
  • Experience of risk assessment and use of standard operating procedures.
