Job Summary

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Design Engineer - Structures to join our dynamic Engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will lead the design and development of complex structural engineering projects, leveraging your expertise to deliver innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop structural elements for our electric vehicles, including iStream and iFrame components.
  • Collaborate with the structures design team to drive the success of our projects and contribute to the advancement of our organisation.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of structural bodies, load paths, and joining techniques for low to high volume production.
  • Apply knowledge of welding, bonding, and joining techniques, including FDS and SPR, as well as knowledge of sand, gravity, and die castings, extrusions, and sheet metal pressings.
  • Manage and direct a small team of designers and contractors to deliver work packages.
  • Contribute to the development of assembly drawings, detail drawings, and solid models using Catia V5.
  • Perform basic structural calculations by hand or using Catia FEA.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of materials, heat treatments, and surface treatments.
  • Apply knowledge of anti-corrosion coatings and choice of materials.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in structures within the automotive industry.
  • Proficiency in using Catia V5 and preferably 3DX, with the ability to create drawings to standards BS8888 and ASME Y14.
  • Ability to create assembly drawings, detail drawings, and solid models.
  • Ability to perform basic structural calculations by hand or using Catia FEA.
  • Thorough understanding of materials, heat treatments, and surface treatments.
  • Good understanding of the use of anti-corrosion coatings and choice of materials.
  • Ability to manage and direct a small team of designers and contractors.
