Job Summary:
Chiltern Wood School is a special educational needs school for pupils with severe and complex learning needs. The school is looking for a dedicated and caring teaching assistant to support the educational and social development of its students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the teacher in planning, preparing and delivering lessons to students with special educational needs.
- Assist students with their daily needs, including personal care and administration of medication.
- Work with occupational and speech therapists to implement therapy plans and promote student development.
- Contribute to a positive and inclusive school environment by promoting social and emotional development of students.
Requirements:
- Candidates must be able and willing to conduct personal care support for our pupils.
- Candidates must have a good standard of written English to ensure observations are completed effectively.
- Candidates must speak English fluently, as a thorough understanding and quick action is sometimes needed when dealing with urgent situations involving medical needs or behaviour.
Desired Qualifications and Skills:
- A Level 3 Teaching Assistant SEND Pathway Apprenticeship standard qualification.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Chiltern Wood School is a special educational needs school for pupils with severe and complex learning needs. The school is spread across 3 sites in the Wycombe area and works with pupils aged 3 to 19 years old. We pride ourselves on building positive relationships with our pupils, their families and supporting professionals to enable communication, physical, social and emotional development for each individual. Chiltern Wood follows a therapeutic approach and is well supported by occupational and speech and language therapists who work on-site.
