Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Enhanced Clinical Practitioner to join our Preoperative Assessment Unit at the Isle of Wight NHS Trust. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality clinical assessments to patients undergoing surgery, identifying potential perioperative risks, and ensuring patients are prepared for and fit for surgery.

Main Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients undergoing surgery
  • Identify potential perioperative risks and develop strategies to mitigate them
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests as required
  • Make sound clinical decisions regarding patient care and referral to other healthcare professionals
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless patient care
About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and contribute to the delivery of high-quality patient care. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a range of patients, including those undergoing general surgery, breast, gynaecology, ENT, maxillofacial, urology, orthopaedics, and ophthalmology procedures.

Requirements
  • Registered Nurse with current registration with the NMC
  • Substantial post-registration experience in acute care
  • Completed specialist Trust internal education and competencies
  • Completed Level 6/7 Accredited History Taking and Physical Assessment course or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
