Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and qualified Phlebotomist/Health Care Assistant to join our team at Constable Country Medical Practice on a part-time basis. The successful candidate will support our nursing team at both our East Bergholt & Capel St Mary Surgeries.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care, working strictly in accordance with specific practice guidelines and protocols.
  • Collect blood samples in accordance with training and procedures, ensuring correct storage, labelling, recording, and efficient dispatching of samples.
  • Ensure patients are comfortable and relaxed, confirming their agreement to the collection of a blood sample.
  • Verify patient identification against GP or nurse request, and confirm with the patient whenever possible.
  • Report anomalies to a senior member of staff and notify the GP of any significant patient issues.
  • Liaise with and assist members of the administrative team.

  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting, ideally within primary care.
  • Ability to record accurate clinical notes.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and understand the needs of the patient.
  • Strength in problem-solving, with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
