Job Title: SEN HLTA SEMH Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced SEN HLTA SEMH Specialist to join our team at Dunbar Education Recruitment Limited. As a SEN HLTA SEMH Specialist, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading small-group learning sessions tailored to the needs of pupils with SEMH needs. You will collaborate with class teachers to plan and implement effective support strategies, build strong relationships with pupils, and manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead small-group learning sessions for pupils with SEMH needs
  • Collaborate with class teachers to plan and implement support strategies
  • Build strong relationships with pupils and manage challenging behaviour
  • Provide academic and emotional support to help pupils reach their full potential
  • Step in to cover lessons when needed, ensuring continuity in teaching
Requirements:
  • Previous experience as an HLTA, particularly working with pupils with SEMH needs
  • Strong understanding of the UK curriculum and SEN settings
  • Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and build relationships with pupils and staff
  • A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Confidence in leading classroom activities and supporting teaching staff
