About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled professional to lead our Adult Therapy teams, providing strategic and clinical leadership to ensure high-quality patient care across integrated care pathways and services.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with senior managers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders to drive service improvement, quality, and patient experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide professional and clinical leadership to the Division, ensuring a framework is in place for the management and development of AHP staff.
  • Maintain a highly visible leadership profile, undertaking quality rounds and engaging with service areas as required.
  • Support Heads of service/profession to supervise clinical areas requiring special management measures or additional support.
  • Provide professional supervision to senior therapy staff.
  • Work with healthcare professionals to ensure safe, effective, and professional standards of patient flows, care management, and delivery.
  • Ensure patient care is delivered with care and compassion to a high standard, achieving clinical quality standards.
  • Ensure a consistent approach is taken across pathways and services, complying with Trust-wide policies and procedures.
  • Manage clinical services within budget and achieving key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the Division's business plan, including cross-service and external partnership working.
  • Deliver identified quality and service improvement projects or development programmes contributing to patient service modernisation.
  • Manage the delivery of Therapy innovation and development within the division and Trust.
  • Identify and take forward the specific contribution Therapies can make to service development, QIPP, and improving resource use.
  • Support the Divisional Director of Professions and Governance in developing and applying systems, control processes, and risk management arrangements.
  • Undertake trend analyses of selected complaints and adverse incidents, especially as they relate to therapies.
  • Ensure all aspects of risk and clinical governance are robustly and effectively managed.
  • Deliver identified service improvement projects or development programmes contributing to patient service modernisation.
  • Support the Divisional Director of Professions and Governance in representing the Trust within the NHS and with partner organisations.
  • Develop local systems for gaining patient feedback and responding to adverse outcomes.
  • Ensure patient feedback is acted on effectively, and learning from complaints and incidents is used to improve services.
  • Support the development and implementation of education and training programmes within the Trust, especially for AHPs.
  • Participate in the Trust on-call manager rota.
Person Specification

Essential qualifications and training include:

  • Registered healthcare professional from a relevant group (Dietetics, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy).
  • Postgraduate training in Clinical Specialty, or Business or NHS Management in progress or completed.
  • Master's degree or equivalent ability/evidence of skill.

Essential experience includes:

  • Substantial operational management in an acute NHS Trust, including senior level experience and management of specialist services.
  • Demonstrable staff management, including senior level experience.
  • Experience of management of change.
  • Ability to interpret complex management data/information.
