Job Title: Head of Speech and Language Therapy Services

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Speech and Language Therapist to lead our Children's Community Speech and Language Therapy Service. As the Head of Speech and Language Therapy Services, you will be responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of the service, ensuring that it is effective, efficient, and responsive to the needs of children and young people in Newham.

About the Role
  • Provide clinical leadership and management of the Speech and Language Therapy service to children and young people aged 0-19 years.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the service's performance and outcomes.
  • Lead the development of policies and procedures to ensure the service is compliant with national and local standards.
  • Manage and supervise a team of Speech and Language Therapists, ensuring they have the necessary skills and support to deliver high-quality services.
  • Collaborate with other professionals and agencies to ensure the service is integrated with other healthcare services and meets the needs of children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a service improvement plan to enhance the service's performance and outcomes.
  • Lead the development of a comprehensive service strategy, including the identification of service gaps and opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage and coordinate the service's budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively to meet the needs of children and young people.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other professionals and agencies to ensure the service is integrated with other healthcare services.
  • Ensure that the service is compliant with national and local standards, including the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines.
Person Specification
  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
  • Health Professions Council - Licence to Practice.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Experience of managing a team of Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Experience of developing and implementing service improvement plans.
  • Experience of managing budgets and resources.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
