About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior European Gas and Power Scheduler to join our team at Richard James Recruitment Specialists Ltd. As a key member of our operations team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth execution of our European trading activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily and/or hourly balancing on all energy market areas to optimize our trading positions.
  • Manage all scheduling activities and related processes covering Natural Gas and Power across relevant European market areas and TSOs to minimize operational risks.
  • Work collaboratively with a team of 2-3 schedulers to ensure coverage of scheduling tasks, including weekends, and maintain a high level of service quality.
  • Maintain and manage our company's licensing status and relationship with the relevant system operators to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Timely physical position management and accurate systems booking of actualization events to ensure seamless trading operations.
  • Ensure transparent, concise, and timely communication with our commercial teams regarding physical positions, possible curtailments, and any maintenance events (scheduled or unscheduled).
  • Coordinate communication/work with our internal and external stakeholders, including trading desk, counterparties, operations, IT, finance, risk, legal, and other business partners to ensure effective collaboration.
  • Onboard and setup new activities, including transportation, NG Swing, or storage contracts, through thorough lifecycle testing to ensure seamless integration.
  • Provide regular reporting on performance and operational risk metrics and develop ad-hoc operational analysis reports to inform business decisions.
  • Generate and lead efficiency improvement projects to drive business growth and optimize operations.

Requirements

  • 4+ years' experience in European power and gas markets with prior role in scheduling natural gas and/or Power.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills to analyze complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Management and mentoring experience of a small team to develop and lead high-performing teams.
  • Prior experience with ETRMs (including system configuration), Triple Point (CXL) preferred.
  • Experience with tools in managing position scheduling and main nomination/scheduling related portals.
  • Good IT skills (Excel, VBA, SQL, Python) to analyze and manipulate data.
  • Experience in setting up technical processes (such as secured communication channels with system operators) a plus.
  • Effective English verbal and written communication skills, any other languages a plus.
  • Ability to perform under pressure with a high motivation/energy level and manage multiple tasks to established deadlines.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
