About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at GKN Aerospace. As a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering Team, you will play a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations within the Value Stream.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing operations, ensuring the efficient and effective production of high-quality products.
  • Develop and document manufacturing standard work instructions and implementation plans to drive process improvements and reduce product defects.
  • Lead the development of manufacturing process improvements and implementation, focusing on process robustness and the use of process control measures (SPC / Cpk).
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve manufacturing issues, demonstrating yield improvement and process optimization.
  • Manage and maintain manufacturing documentation, ensuring configuration control and point of introduction activities are up-to-date.
  • Provide concessions and MRB (Material Review Board) support to steady-state programs, leading improvements to eliminate customer escapes through robust root cause and corrective action.
  • Ensure process compliance with productivity improvements within the value stream, managing small capital and tooling projects as needed.
  • Coordinate process improvement, cost reduction, and defect reduction projects, utilizing Lean Manufacturing techniques, process validation, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in risk assessments within the value stream, supporting actions that arise and developing strong internal relationships with team members and cross-functional teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field (Physics, Chemistry, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering) or Associates degree in engineering with 4 years of professional experience in manufacturing.
  • Three years of experience in a manufacturing engineering environment, with working knowledge in statistical process controls, mechanical engineering drawings, tool design, and manufacturing machinery troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • US Citizenship per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong background/experience in concessions/MRB and providing frontline support to manufacturing operations.
  • Strong demonstrable experience of problem-solving techniques (5 whys, 8D, DMAIC).
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or engineering field.
  • Experience in process control awareness is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain Security Clearance.
  • Good reporting and communication skills on project status and progress, leading effectively at all levels within an organization and being flexible in your approach.
  • Multi-tasking and dynamic capacity.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Excel for data analysis and other Office suite tools for reporting purposes.
  • Experience working with customer specifications and standards.
  • Additional experience in the application of Lean tools in a production environment.
  • Experience within the glass processing and/or laminating industry.
