Job Title: Speech Therapist Assistant

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Speech Therapist Assistant to join our team at a mainstream primary school. The successful candidate will work closely with a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to support children with Autism, complex social needs, and associated challenging behaviour.

The ideal candidate will be a calm, empathetic, and patient individual who is passionate about supporting children's education and well-being. They will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for anyone looking to gain experience and insight into the role of a Speech Therapist. You will work firsthand with students of mixed abilities and needs, developing your skills and confidence in a supportive and inclusive environment.

We offer a competitive salary of £83-100 per day, depending on experience. If you are a motivated and caring individual who is passionate about making a difference in the lives of children, we would love to hear from you.

Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside a qualified and experienced Speech and Language Therapist to support children with Autism, complex social needs, and associated challenging behaviour
  • Develop strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents to ensure effective communication and support
  • Assist with lesson planning and implementation to meet the needs of students with special educational needs
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to students as needed
  • Collaborate with the SLT and other professionals to ensure a comprehensive and coordinated approach to student support

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., speech therapy, psychology, education)
  • Experience working with children with special educational needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
  • Knowledge of child development theories and practices
  • Emotional stability and resilience in a fast-paced environment
