Job Title: DevOps Engineer

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join our team at Hiscox. As a DevOps Engineer, you will be responsible for building and maintaining our cloud infrastructure, ensuring the smooth operation of our systems, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain pipelines for publishing code to Azure
  • Oversee and coach squads in intra-day deployments mechanisms
  • Drive DevOps principles and culture across London Market squads
  • Coach and influence engineers to DevOps maturity
  • Oversee and direct vendor DevOps and Infrastructure resources
  • Create and maintain Azure infrastructure across all environments
  • Propose and implement time-saving initiatives
  • Create and maintain monitoring at all levels (infrastructure, app, data)
  • Monitor issues and availability and ensure the correct escalation path is followed
  • Monitor performance and propose improvements
  • Implement auto-scaling of resources to meet the needs of the moment
  • Collaborate with all London Market Chapters
  • Help to commoditise cloud services where possible
  • Identify engineering limits, bottlenecks and tipping points before they're reached

Person Specification:

  • Experience of working as an engineer, working on solutions in Azure
  • Experience with Terraform and Azure Resource Management Templates
  • Experience setting up and working with Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Knowledge of Cloud native, microservices, containerized systems, preferably with Kubernetes
  • Strong desire for continuous improvement and an Agile way of working
