Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Human Factors Engineer to join our team in Plymouth, working on an initial 66 weeks contract. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with a global business that has developed a strategy of working closely with its contingent workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional support to the Principal Engineer (Human Factors) in the design, safety assessment, and human performance related aspects of the business.
  • Undertake human factors assessment work, including task analysis, error analysis, workload analysis, ergonomic design, and human reliability analysis.
  • Prepare scopes of work, cost estimates, and programmes for human factors assessment work in support of business programmes.
  • Support the business on engaging with regulatory bodies on Human Factors related issues.

Requirements

  • A first degree in Psychology plus MSc in Occupational Psychology, Applied Psychology, or Industrial Psychology, or an engineering degree with high psychological or ergonomics content.
  • Significant experience working in high hazard process industries, such as nuclear, defence, or petrochemical.
  • A sound understanding of nuclear safety assessment principles and safety case production.
  • Familiarity with both HF qualitative and quantitative HRA techniques.
  • Experience in applying human factors knowledge in support of engineering system or process design.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with engineers and other scientific disciplines on human factors related matters.

Eligibility

Candidates must have lived in the UK in the last 5 years and be eligible for SC Clearance.
